Sanchez wants the focus to be back on Copa America and not on Vidal

Chile’s star striker Alexis Sanchez has backed his Chilean team-mate Arturo Vidal after the Juventus midfielder had apologised for the drunk driving accident that happened this week. But Alexis Sanchez wanted his teammate to pull up his socks and concentrate on the crucial game against Bolivia.

The Arsenal forward was speaking ahead of the crucial Copa America group match against Bolivia, when he said “"I told him 'Arturo, you better bust your a**.’ Sanchez admits that there has been indiscipline and that the incident has been hard on them, but he believes they will support Vidal as the whole team is like a family.

“It's very hard what happened with him but as a group, the least we can do is put up with it as a team. There has been indiscipline, we were wrong, you are right about that. But we are a family and we are there to support him.”

“All the players were with him”

Sanchez also commented that the whole team is behind Vidal and refuted the claims that some members of Chile's side were unhappy with Vidal following the incident. He added: "I hate it when people say things which are not true.

"All the players were with him. I hope that the people will be with him on Friday, like all his colleagues have been. The important thing is that Arturo, his wife and everyone else are well. The case of Arturo should now close and we can concentrate on the Copa America."

Chile take on Bolivia tonight in a crucial Group A fixture that will decide who goes through to the knockout stages. As things stand, Chile lead the way, but are level on points with Bolivia and a defeat would open the door for Mexico to qualify should they beat Ecuador.
