What's the story?

Amazon Prime Video have announced that they will be producing a new documentary series on Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

In case you didn't know...

The Spaniard has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world and a legend in the Los Blancos shirt.

During his time with the European Champions so far, the 32-year-old has won four Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups, four Club World Cup medals, three Supercopa de Españas and two Copa del Reys.

Internationally, the defender captains the Spain national team and has won the World Cup in 2010 and the Euros in 2008 and 2012.

The heart of the matter

Ramos and Amazon Prime Video have announced that they will be collaborating on an eight-episode documentary series on the life and career of the defender.

While the show will focus on his trophy-laden career, it will also show Ramos in new light; the kind of man he is outside of the game, his Andalusian heritage and his family and friends' opinion of him.

Speaking to Marca, Ramos said, "I am excited to be able to share with football fans the keys to being a professional athlete and what is the responsibility of wearing captain's armband with Real Madrid and Spain, while having a normal personal life at the same time."

"I think that anyone who is dedicated to their profession can feel attached to this series and I couldn't have a better partner to do it with than Amazon Prime Video."

Director of Prime Originals in Europe, Georgia Brown also expressed excitement at the new collaboration.

"We are incredibly excited to bring this exclusive project with Sergio Ramos to Amazon Prime customers and football fans around the world. It's fantastic content to enrich our Prime Video programmes in Spain, and we are sure that our clients will love seeing Sergio in these unique and private moments on and off the pitch," said Brown.

What's next?

Ramos is currently captaining an under-transition Real Madrid side who sit ten points away from the top of the table in third place.

The side is next scheduled to face Alaves in the league on Sunday.
