Referee Andre Marriner (C) sends off Arsenal’s French striker Olivier Giroud (L) after a challenge on Fulham’s Bulgarian defender Stanislav Manolev during the English Premier League football match between Fulham and Arsenal at Craven Cottage in London on April 20, 2013.

Arsenal FC will appeal against the wrongful dismissal of striker Olivier Giroud during their 0-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. At his post-match press conference, manager Arsene Wenger hinted that he might just accept the dismissal but watching the replays and keeping in mind Arsenal’s champions league hopes, he’s appealing to the FA after all.

Giroud was dismissed following a late lunge on Fulham’s Mandolev. Replays show that the 6″2′ striker slipped just before going for the tackle, thereby clipping the Fulham right-back in the process.

An FA regulatory commission will hear the claim and make a verdict on Tuesday afternoon. If the verdict goes in favor of the striker, he will be eligible to face Manchester United on the 28th of April at the Emirates.
