Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was full of praise for Olivier Giroud’s improvement in his second season with the North London club.

Giroud had scored in mid-week against Dortmund in the Champions League and he also found the back of the net against Crystal Palace in the Premier League over the weekend.

Wenger said, “How much he has improved, I don’t know. But he has, that’s obvious to everybody. If he keeps working like that then he will improve again.”

In spite of missing a few chances, Giroud finally headed in Arsenal’s second goal to seal the three points for Arsenal that saw them stay at the top of the table.

“That is what makes him great,” added Wenger. “He missed some chances but he always got the support of our fans because he shows he is ready for a fight.

“The fact that he kept going got him a goal. I like his spirit.”

Giroud has scored 5 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League this season, and has scored a total of 8 goals in all competitions.

Wenger went on to say, “”He has improved through training and the fact he has played with top players.”

“They put pressure on you to take care of every pass because if you don’t do that then players like Ozil, Wilshere and Cazorla will let you know.”
