According to the German Football Association, Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is currently carrying a knee injury.

The injury came to light when he travelled to Frankfurt to join the Germany squad with the Euro 2016 qualifiers taking place this week. The playmaker was sent to Munich to have a scan and precautionary tests.

Germany play away at Poland this weekend followed by a home game against the Republic of Ireland next week.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge in the 2-0 loss to Chelsea.

Jens Grittner, a DFB spokesman, tweeted: Mesut Ozil and Andre Schurrle are training individually at the hotel, 17 players at first team training.

“Second training without [Andre] Schurrle (individually at the hotel) and Ozil. He had travelled with knee problems, is to have an MRI scan in Munich.”
