Arsenal News: Wenger Accuses Xavi Of Disrespect Over Fabregas Comments

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accused Barcelona midfielder Xavi of being disrespectful towards the Londoners after he made more inflammatory comments about the club. Xavi had earlier come out and said that Cesc Fabregas was ‘suffering’ at Arsenal and that the Gunners should put him out of his misery and allow him to come to Barcelona next season.

Wenger asks Xavi to show respect.

The Cesc Fabregas saga has been one of the most long drawn out, tedious and boring sagas of the last three years in world football. Barcelona players have come out and publicly insulted Arsenal and constantly unsettled Fabregas, before putting in underwhelming bids for him that the English club have steadfastly refused.

Speaking to the Barcelona official website, Xavi said-

“I spoke to Cesc in Ibiza and he said he was suffering because he wanted to come.

“It’s more like he did everything he could to come and wants to leave Arsenal – although he made it clear that now everything depends on the selling club.”

And Wenger finally declared himself fed up of this ceaseless tapping up. He spoke to the media after Arsenal’s pre-season game against Malaysia XI, and said that Cesc was contracted to Arsenal; and that was the bottom line in spite of all the media frenzy surrounding the deal. He said that there should be an inherent decency in all clubs and appealed to that supposed decency that resided within Barcelona, and told them to stop this blatant show of disrespect.

He said-

”What is important is that Cesc Fabregas is contracted to Arsenal.

“That is a fact. Arsenal wants to keep him and all the rest is comment. If I found Barcelona in exactly the same position, I believe a mutual respect between the clubs should stop this kind of comment. If it is true then it is very disrespectful and it is not the first time that Xavi has been disrespectful to Arsenal”

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona and Xavi reciprocate this show of decency by shutting up about how much Cesc Fabregas excites them, or if they carry on their shameless charades until the Arsenal captain is their captain no more. Stay tuned for more in this regard.
