With the Gunners since nine years of age, the Ghanaian’s debut in an Arsenal shirt came in 2011. The hard-tackling midfielder has shown only glimpses of the potential that scouts had hailed him of possessing while failing to secure a place at the heart of the Arsenal midfield.

A subsequent loan spell to Wolverhampton Wanderers last season was cut short for Frimpong as he required to go under the knife after rupturing knee ligaments against QPR.
