Rumour: Arsenal to edge Manchester United in race for Uruguayan starlet Kevin Mendez

Uruguayan starlet Kevin Mendez, is ready to snub Manchester United for Arsenal, according to TalkSport. Both Arsenal and Manchester United, were expected to ram heads for Mendez, but Arsenal have edged United in this endeavor, by approaching to buy the 18 year old.

Kevin Mendez, currently plies his trade with Club Atletico Penarol in his homeland. The 18 year old, plays as a striker and is known for his sudden burst of acceleration. Arsene Wenger is believed to be tracking this young starlet for quiet some time.

Manchester United are also after the young starlet’s signature, but according to Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal is the Uruguayan's preferred destination and the north London club could bid for his signature during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, his club Penarol, has made it clear that they want to sell the quick fire striker, who has been dubbed for bigger and better things by Barcelona’s Luis Suarez. Mednez burst onto the spotlight last year, when he scored two sensational goals in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Arsene Wenger, is known for his eye for young talent and a bid to acquire the services of Kevin Mendez, justifies that. Meanwhile, Mendez has already expressed his interest to join Arsenal and develop under Arsene Wenger, according to TalkSports.
