Arsenal Transfer News: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Set For Emirates Move

Arsenal are set to sign up the promising young English winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Southampton according to reports. Arsenal were set to sign the teenager in the winter transfer window but a deal could not be negotiated with both the parties haggling for the price. Despite interest from other top sides like Manchester United and Liverpool, Arsenal seem to have got their target. The 17 year old winger has come under the spotlight after having a great season for the League 1 side that saw him named in the PFA team of the year. Oxlade Chamberlain would follow the footstep of Theo Walcott who was also signed by Arsenal from the Saints that too at an early age in 2006. Mark Chamberlain, the player’s father and an ex England international had earlier said that the teenager will move to Arsenal “as soon as possible in order to continue his development”. The teenager played his first full season for the Saints last season and has already scored 10 goals in the 36 games he has played for them .

The deal is set to be in the range of 10 million pounds that seems to be the order of the day with other young prodigies like Phil Jones and Jordan Henderson commanding big price tags. Southampton have recently provided the Premiership with few of the best wingers in the form of Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale and have slumped from being Premiership regulars to the third tier of English football. Arsenal will be looking to secure the deal within the month as Arsene Wenger previously mentioning that the club will have a quite active time in transfer market at the end of July .
