Arsenal Transfer News: Xavi Defends Comments, Hopeful Of Cesc Deal

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has moved to pour oil on troubled waters and suggested that his comments regarding Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas weren’t meant to offend anyone at the club or Arsene Wenger. Xavi had earlier quipped that Cesc was ‘suffering’ in London and Arsenal should put him out of his misery and let him move on to Barcelona this summer for a reasonable price.

Xavi rambles, and rambles, and rambles

Wenger retorted to this quite angrily and said that Xavi had been disrespectful to Arsenal and Fabregas. Xavi seemed nonplussed at having this accusation levelled at him, and said that being offensive to anyone was not his objective at all.

He seemed optimistic that Arsenal were more willing to sell the player this year, and hoped that a deal would be swiftly concluded without any further hassles.

Talking about the entire situation, he said-

“It seems absurd to me,”

“I was only acting in the interest of Cesc and of Barca. But that’s that and I really don’t want to get into a war of words with Wenger. I didn’t want to offend anyone.”

“I don’t really know the situation but it seems they are more disposed to sell this year than last year. Maybe we can be a bit more optimistic but it depends on reaching an agreement with Arsenal.”

This saga has become so yawningly tedious now that most Arsenal fans have gone and stuck their heads in the ground until August, unmindful of what will happen and just wanting the entire goddamned thing to end. It doesn’t look like ending anytime soon, so I guess you’ll just have to stay tuned for more.

*Silently weeps*
