Arsenal Weekly Round-Up: 29th September to 6th October

Arsenal

Arsenal started the week top of the table after a 2-1 away win against Swansea with 18 year old Serge Gnabry scored his first Arsenal goal and Aaron Ramsey scored Arsenal’s second while Ben Davies scored a consolation goal for the home team. Arsenal carried on their form with a 2-0 win against Napoli at the Emirates with Mesut Özil getting his first Arsenal goal and Oliver Giroud also on the score sheet.

The Gunners finished the week with a 1-1 Draw away to West Brom with Jack Wilshere scoring a second half equalizer. Arsenal finish the week top of the Premier League and their Champions League group.

Transfer Rumours

Arsenal are set to miss out on 17 year old PSV star Zakaria Bakkali with the Belgian set to sign a new long-term deal with the dutch club. (talkSPORT)

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United go head to head to sign Real Madrid Forward Karim Benzema, the Spanish club are willing to let the Frenchman go for 17m to raise fund to sign Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. (Mirror)

Arsenal are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri; a bid is set to be made for around 15m. (Guardian)

Arsenal are set to reignite interest in Chelsea’s Senegalese striker Demba Ba, Arsenal tried to sign Ba on transfer deadline day but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho blocked the deal. (Metro)

Injury News

Bacary Sagna

Defender Bacary Sagna has been added to Arsenal’s growing injury list and has been ruled out for 3 weeks with a hamstring injury while Gunners captain Mikel Arteta played his first full 90 minutes since his thigh injury suffered on the opening day against Aston Villa.

Headlines

Jack Wilshere was caught on camera smoking outside a London nightclub on Wednesday night. Wilshere has been struggling for fitness since coming back from injury. Wilshere quickly denied the claims on Twitter tweeting a photo of Zinedine Zidane smoking and following that a tweet saying “For the record I don’t smoke”

Other Club News

Arsenal’s Ladies won the 2013 Continental cup with a 2-0 win over Lincoln Ladies at the Hive stadium home of Non league Barnet. The trophy is the Gunners 40th in 21 years.

Arsenal’s U19′s picked up a 4-1 victory at home to Napoli in the champions league with Chuba Akpom and Austin Lipman both scoring twice for the Gunners in Boreham Wood.

Arsenal’s U18′s lost 2-1 away at the hands of Aston Villa with Thomas Strain putting the hosts ahead but Renny Smith equalised for Arsenal but Jerell Sellars goal 20 minutes from time ensured Villa took all 3 points.
