Arsenal’s key striker: I hope the Gunners don’t sign another forward

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is hoping his manager Arsene Wenger doesn’t sign a new forward in the January transfer window, The Metro report.

Giroud has had to lead the line for the season so far because of Wenger’s failure to sign a new striker in the summer, but after ending his barren goalscoring run at Newcastle, the Frenchman is hopeful that a new striker is not signed next month.

“If the coach wants me to rest, he can do it without buying a new striker,” he told French TV.

“Lukas Podolski is having a good comeback. Theo Walcott can play as a striker. We have the quality and the quantity.

“I would rather not see a new striker come in.”

Arsenal have been linked with a host of new forwards in recent weeks, with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata the latest name linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
