Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is confident that he can bring in the players his club need before the transfer window closes on September 2nd, according to The Metro.

The only arrival at Arsenal so far this summer has been French U20 international Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre and pressure has been building on the Gunners’ boss to spend some money.

Wenger, however, says that Arsenal will remain calm when conducting their transfer business and are confident that they will have signings to announce soon.

“I am confident of making the signings we need,” said Wenger.

“We have some funds available and the desire of players to join us is big.”

In the aftermath of the win at Fenerbahce Arsenal were linked with Real Madrid duo Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema while they reportedly had an initial offer for Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita turned down.

Wenger remained tight-lipped about the possibility of re-signing Mathieu Flamini to provide cover in midfield.

Arsenal are believed to have around £70 million to spend on new signings, a figure that will be boosted if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stages as they look likely to do following their 3-0 win away at Fenerbahce in the first leg of the play-off.

Wenger’s side host Fenerbahce in the second leg at the Emirates on Tuesday. Qualifying for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League will guarantee an extra £40 million in revenue.
