Roma stay perfect, win 10th straight game in Serie A

AS Roma players celebrate after winning 1-0 against ChievoVerona during their Serie A football match in Rome’s Olympic Stadium on October 31, 2013

Serie A leaders AS Roma made it a perfect 10 as they notched up their 10th straight league win this season with a 1-0 win against Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico, in the process setting a new Serie A record.

Rudi Garcia’s side were made to sweat it out by the bottom-placed team in Serie A, but they eventually broke through in the 67th minute when Marco Borriello got on the end of a cross from Alessandro Florenzi to glance in a header off the post.

The win takes Roma to 30 points as they stay perfect from their 10 games and consolidate their lead at the top of Serie A. They hold a 5-point lead over defending champions Juventus and Napoli, who are both tied for second spot.

The run is all the more impressive considering that Roma have won their last two games even while missing the services of Gervinho and captain Francesco Totti, both of whom had powered their blistering form in the opening eight games.

Roma next play Torino away on Sunday as they look to make it 11 straight wins in a row.
