Real Madrid

Athletic Club v Real Madrid - La Liga
Another game another disappointment for Zinedine Zidane

Keylor Navas: 8.5/10

Playing against a keeper who is speculated to replace you next summer, Navas gave a timely reminder of his brilliant shot-stopping abilities. His fingertip save off Inaki Williams made sure Real Madrid avoid further embarrassment in La Liga.

Carvajal: 6/10

The fullback did not have much to do defensively but could not influence much at the other half of the pitch too. His crosses were either over hit or under hit and never troubled the Bilbao backline.

Raphael Varane: 7/10

A typical Raphael Varane display! Commanding in the air, good in possession and always a threat during set pieces. Varane almost scored from a set piece and at the other end, made a last-ditch tackle against a Raul Garcia shot.

Sergio Ramos: 2/10

Two elbow incidents and two yellow cards for the captain. It was Ramos' 19th La Liga sending off and 24th in all competitions. Before red mist came upon the defender, Ramos was already having a horrid time with Inaki Williams running him ragged. Playing with a protective mask for a broken nose, it was his opponents which needed protection against him at the end.

Marcelo: 6/10

Every Real Madrid attack looked to pass through the left back such was his attacking impact. But as usual, Marcelo kept his defensive duties on the back burner which helped Bilbao's cause.

Casemiro: 7/10

The Brazilian did his job brilliantly in shielding his back four by making a number of crucial interventions. He struggled in his attacking output as his crosses and shots failed to create any sort of the desired impact.

Toni Kroos: 7.5/10

Athletic Club v Real Madrid - La Liga
Kroos was a notch above other players on the field

With a 90% passing accuracy, Toni Kroos looked a notch above every other player on the field. Kroos had a brilliant chance to win it for Real Madrid with his outside of the boot shot was inches away from the back of the net.

Luka Modric: 6/10

A rare off day for the Croatian maestro. Against a packed Bilbao midfield, Modric could not influence the proceedings. His one-two passing with Isco on a couple of occasions were the only highlight of his performance.

Isco: 5/10

Quiet. This one word answers the sort of performance delivered by the playmaker. He struggled against the Bilbao defenders and barring a chance created for Karim Benzema in the first half, Isco was anonymous in most of the Madrid attacks.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 7/10

Ronaldo struggled with composure in the first half with his passing on the point of being terrible. His levels rose in the second half and he became the biggest threat for Bilbao. One of his efforts kissed the post which if would have gone in, had the potential of becoming the goal of the season for the Portuguese.

Karim Benzema: 5.5/10

The striker started the game strongly as one of his shot hit the upright. But he faded as the game went on with his passing deserting him on a number of occasions. Benzema and Ronaldo also did not look to have their famed understanding against Bilbao.

Substitutes

Mateo Kovacic: 5/10

He had a chance to deliver some good crosses into the box in his short cameo but failed in his efforts.

Borja Mayoral: N/R

Replaced Karim Benzema but failed to do anything worth mentioning.
