Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is confident that his team will beat Arsenal in the Champions League clash after Dortmund managed to overcome Hannover 96, FourFourTwo reports.

The Champions League finalists fought tooth and nail against Hannover scoring just one goal in the opening stages of the game after Marco Reus converting a penalty in the 1-0 victory.

The Gabon international stated that some players we’re ‘already tired going into the game’ due to fatigue from their national commitments but is sure that Dortmund will come good when they travel to the Emirates on Tuesday.

“We’ll have further recovered by then and we’ll be in better form,” Aubameyang told the Bundesliga‘s website.

“Having a big game in the Champions League should give us extra motivation.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side managed 18 shots on target against Hannover but shot stopper Ron-Robert Zieler managed to keep them out. Hannover responded with 10 shots on target.

“I had the impression some of us were already tired going into the game and it got worse as the match proceeded,” Aubameyang said.

“We didn’t have our usual rhythm and didn’t play the high tempo football we normally do.

“But a second goal would’ve killed the game.”

Arsenal currently lead Dortmund by three points in Group F.

The Gunners have managed to defeat Marseille and Napoli and are fresh from a 4-1 victory against Norwich in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old is wary of Arsenal’s new signing Mesut Ozil.

“Ozil is in great form and is crucial to Arsenal’s game but they’re a quality side anyway,” Aubameyang said.

Olivier Giroud, for example, is also a very good player, I know him well from my time in France, he’s a dangerous striker.

“Playing Arsenal won’t be easy at all and we’ll have to do better than we did on Saturday.”
