Sanchez was close to joining Manchester City in the summer but Arsenal decided not to sell him at the last moment. The Gunners were unable to sign a replacement on time and thus decided not to sell him to Manchester City.

Zinedine Zidane is also said to be interested in signing Alexis as he looks for an experienced player to replace Benzema in the starting XI. The manager has reportedly informed the board about signing Sanchez soon.
Real Madrid will have two choices now – sign him on a free transfer in the summer or pay the £30 million Arsenal are demanding for him and sign him up in January.
Arsenal meanwhile are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain to swap Sanchez for Julian Draxler. Wenger has been a fan of the German ever since his Schalke days and has reignited his interest in him.

Alexis Sanchez wants to win trophies and what better team to join than Real Madrid? The Chilean has it all to make Madrid a better side and it would be interesting to see how Zidane plays him if they end up signing him!
Manchester City meanwhile would feel betrayed as they had a deal with him but just couldn't get him to sign the contract. It'll be a very similar situation to the one of Dani Alves this summer – City thought they had got him but he ended up signing for PSG!
