Glasgow, Nov 24 (IANS) Two goals from star striker Lionel Messi saw off a brave challenge from Scotland's Celtic, helping the Spanish football champions win 2-0 and advance as group toppers in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Barcelona win at Celtic Park on Wednesday sent them through to the knockout stages of the Champions league for the 13th time in a row.
Second-placed Manchester City's 1-1 draw against Germany's Borussia Monchengladbach also on Wednesday meant that they are already guaranteed one of the eight seeded berths.
It was an effective and workmanlike performance that got the job done in Glasgow, and once again it was Messi who took centre stage, scoring a fine goal after 25 minutes and adding to the score from a penalty in the second half.
