"Barcelona doesn't need Neymar," says Johan Cruyff

Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff (L) talks to a child in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, on September 19, 2012, during the annual Open Day of the Johan Cruyff Foundation, which invites children with and without handicaps to play sports together.

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff believes that Barcelona does not need to sign Brazillian forward Neymar and it would be a waste of their money as the team already scores plenty of goals.

He told Catalunya Radio: “Barça doesn’t need Neymar. The amount of goals the team has scored shows you that there is an abundance of quality in this area”.

“I understand why Tito (Vilanova) signed (Alex) Song, as that area in the team had to be improved.”

“The one department where Barcelona don’t lack anything is scoring goals. So if you ask me whether they need Neymar, I’m going to have to say ‘no’. Just look at the amount of goals they score. They already have good options up front,” he added.

Cruyff has a glorious history with the club, and had also managed Barcelona’s legendary “Dream Team” but his recent relationship with the club has been a bit sour.

“My relationship with Barcelona is non-existent. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, but it’s the reality, said the Dutchman.
