Neymar helps Barcelona hammer Real Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu

Barcelona Celebrate El Clasico Real Madrid

Barcelona turned it on against Real Madrid right from the start of the game to consign the home side to humiliating 4-0 defeat. The Catalan side’s in-form player Neymar doing lot of the good work as he grabbed a goal and assisted one for Andres Iniesta in stellar fashion.

Luis Suarez grabbed 2 goals on the day, Sergi Roberto playing him through for the first one and the returning Leo Messi came off the bench to assist the Uruguayan's second goal. Luis Enrique's side started without Messi but they were beginning to dismantle Benitez’s Real even before the talismanic forward came on.

Real and Barca both had early chances in the game, though the visitors were looking more threatening in their attempts to open up a frail defence from Los Blancos. After a couple of attempts for Neymar that went askew, Luis Suarez scored in the 11th minute after a superb bt of play from the youngster Sergi Roberto who played a superb reverse pass to find the former Liverpool man.

There was some bad news for Luis Enrique as he saw Javier Mascherano go off within the first 27 minutes due to injury and Mathieu came on to replace him. But so many positives from the game drowned that and they were lucky that Real didn’t test them too much while going backwards.

The Brazilian Neymar came into the game on the back of some good form and it showed on the pitch as took the game by the scruff of its neck and repeatedly ran at the Real backline haranguing them in the process. His efforts bore fruit in the 39th minute as Suarez won the ball and played it to Iniesta who found Neymar under little challenge from anyone and the Brazilian put his side 2 ahead. He may have been marginally offside but the linesman’s flag stayed down.

The evening was a feisty affair as expected as James Rodriguez and Dani Alves both saw bookings in the first half and there were tackles going in left, right, and centre at the Bernabeu, many going unpunished altogether.

The second half began positively for Benitez’s men when Neymar had a good look in on goal but could only put his shot wide. However, that was followed by some action on the other end. Neymar’s freekick from a dangerous position tested Navas but the keeper was equal to it.

Then came the killer blow as Iniesta was on hand to finish off a great move from Barcelona during which Neymar set up the Barca old boy with a flick with his heel and their old hero finished off the move in style.

Then Real Madrid’s best chance of the game would fall to Cristiano Ronaldo, exactly the man you’d want at the end of a one on one chance with the keeper, but he was unable to beat Bravo from close range.

They were further punished for their lackadaisical attitude as Lionel Messi after coming on peppered the goal with some shots and dictated play almost creating a few chances before playing in Luis Suarez to put him one on one against Navas and the Uruguayan did the rest!

Almost in line with the fixture Isco got sent off, also Ramos got a yellow card and there was some playacting. The match saw Rafael Benitez being booed and white handkerchiefs were brandished across the stadium. The fans even applauded Andres Iniesta when he went off to be replaced by Munir. Marcelo had a goal-line clearance in the first game and some questionable substitutions form Rafael Benitez. Everything you expect from an El Clasico, was delivered.
