Barcelona technical director bemoans attackers rejecting Catalans because of MSN

MSN have shattered goal-scoring records in the last two seasons.

Robert Fernandez, the technical director of F.C. Barcelona recently claimed that many players are turning down a move to the Camp Nou outfit due to the presence of superstars in the team. He said that many players had recently rejected any advancement in talks with Barcelona stating the major reason to be the presence of star players.

“We have such a good team that it's difficult to sign players, we have a top team with a brilliant dressing room, have,” said Fernandez. He added to his claim, saying, “Everything is calibrated, but there are certain signings you can't even begin to broach; There are players who don't want to come to Barcelona."

Barcelona has always possessed some of the best players in the world most notably the likes of Johan Cruyff, Rivaldo, Romario, and Ronaldinho. The current bunch of players is dominated by the front line that consists of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, popularly known as the MSN. The front line is supported by the likes of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta leaving players like Arda Turan and Rafinha on the bench.

Last season, Pedro Rodriguez left the club due to limited playing time and Barcelona has been desperately looking for a backup forward since the departure of the Spaniard but have not been successful in signing anyone. Nolito was one of the players Barcelona were reportedly desperate for but the striker apparently turned down the opportunity. “It is very hard to convince players to come to Barcelona with the decorated front three,” he said.

Notable youngsters like Munir El Haddadi, Sandro Ramirez, Cristian Tello, Ibrahim Affelay, Isaac Cuenca amongst others, have been unable to break through to the first 11 in the recent past. With Messi, Suarez and Neymar desperate to play every minute of the season, managers seem to be struggling to rotate the front three. However, with the risk of injuries looming, Enrique will want to have a formidable backup forward who can also provide competition to the front three for a starting spot.

Barcelona has signed three players this transfer window in Lucas Digne, Samuel Umtiti, and Dennis Suarez. Digne, a left-back could be brought in to provide competition to Jordi Alba for the left-back spot, while Umtiti could team up with Gerrard Pique in central defense. However, Dennis Suarez may not be looking at a lot of playing time with tight competition from the likes of Sergi Roberto, Rafinha, and Arda Turan for a spot in the starting 11.
