Jordi Mestre, Barcelona’s vice president has commented on Neymar’s future at the club after several reports linking him to a move to Real Madrid. He came out to say he isn’t worried about Madrid’s interest stating, “I see no reason he’d leave”.

Real Madrid are on the lookout for a world class player after few concerns over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future. The Spanish press claim that the capital club are willing to pay the 23-year-old’s complete buyout clause in order to secure his services. But these rumours have been quashed by the vice president.

The Barcelona forward has been at his mesmerizing best in the last year, as a result of which several big name clubs are targeting his signature. Neymar’s meteoric rise has led to him being named as one of the three best players in the world finishing behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Barcelona are currently in negotiations with their star to keep him at the Camp Nou, which is why several clubs are circling in case contract talks stall. However, Jordi Mestre is very confident Neymar will remain with the Catalan club. He addressed the media after their Copa del Rey clash saying “I don’t know if Madrid will bid or not, but surely lovers of football like Neymar. I’m not concerned. Neymar looks very happy. He’s won trophies, he was at the Ballon d’Or gala, he’s happy when he plays. I see no reason he’d leave here”

On the Nolito transfer he said, “We’ll try to satisfy the technical side, but in the case of Nolito, if Celta’s position doesn’t change, then we won’t sign him”. On whether Barcelona were favorites for he Copa del Rey he commented “Favourites? We’ll see. Football has surprises. We’re the team with the greatest potential, but the Cup has surprises.”

Neymar responds to journalist claims of him meeting Real Madrid officials

Earlier Neymar responded to claims he was in the Spanish capital discussing a move to Real Madrid. Journalist Manolo Lama from Cope said the winger was having ‘dinner with friends’ which implies he was meeting with the Madrid camp.

To this Neymar posted a Snapchat video telling the journalist to stop ‘talking sh**’. He went on, telling him to speak the truth, and also calling him a fool.

Neymar also recently calmed fans over the rumours, stating he is happy at Barcelona. He along with Messi are set to receive a significant pay rise after renewal talks are completed.
