Bayer Leverkussen striker Stefan Kiessling's funny response to FIFA World Cup 2014 snub

Kiessling appearing on the OBI billboard ad

Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling, who was ignored for the World Cup has reacted to the latest snub in a light hearted manner.

Kiessling appeared on a DIY chain OBI’s billboard advertisement where he is shown resting in a garden with the paraphrase, “It is always best at home.” The ad also read "Stefan Kiessling and OBI support our boys."

Kiessling had an impressive season with Bayer Leverkusen as he netted 17 goals in 38 matches. German fans had called for the selection of the 30 year old striker with Mario Gomez having been injured and veteran Miroslav Klose now approaching the twilight of his career.

With German manager Joachim Low deciding to leave out TSG 1899 Hoffenheim center forward Kevin Volland from the 23 man squad, the German squad will travel to Brazil with only Miroslav Klose as their out and out striker. Time will tell whether this gamble taken by Low pays off or proves to be costly.

Kiessling has appeared in only six international games for Germany since 2007 when he made his debut and is yet to score an international goal.
