George Best, apart from being a great player on the pitch, was a great player off the pitch too. These quotes about himself tell us exactly what he did with all the money he made by delivering those moments of beauty.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

He did it all in style. He had an extravagant celebrity lifestyle. He owned a nightclub in Manchester, many restaurants, and also, fashion boutiques. Overall, He just loved to spend what he earned on everything he loved on everything that made him happy.

George married two women in his lifespan, but none of these two marriages were successful. He separated with the first one and married the second one 17-years later, and they both parted ways eventually.

George Best knew how to keep control of the ball on the pitch but had no idea about how to keep control on himself off the pitch. The following quote of his shows us just this.

"In 1969 I gave up alcohol and women - It was the worst 20 minutes of my life."

Knew exactly how to enjoy every moment, didn't he?

During the time when Best played, the salaries were not so high but, because of his star-like status and celebrity lifestyle, he earned a lot, but eventually, he lost all of it and when asked what had happened to his earnings he said the lines mentioned above.

He surely knew about the talent of great youngsters of that time. As he described Cristiano Ronaldo by saying :

"There have been few players described as the new George Best over the years, But this is the first time it's been a compliment to me"

Cristiano Ronaldo might feel really happy after hearing that from the legend himself. He even commented on him being praised by Pele.

He even commented on Gazza's IQ. Even on David Beckham and Eric Cantona. But, when asked about Cristiano Ronaldo, he made the aforementioned comment
