Assistant manager Bob Malcolm slapped his own player Stephen Dobbie.

English Championship side Blackpool’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley wasn’t the only embarrassing scenario for them as their assistant manager Robert ‘Bob’ Malcolm was involved in an incident that could get him fired.

As Scottish footballer Stephen Dobbie was on his way to come on as a 70th-minute substitute, Malcolm pushed Dobbie in the face which eventually got him sent off.

However, the reason for Malcolm’s hostile action is still unknown, but manager Barry Ferguson has assured the fans that the situation will be dealt with.

“I will find out what happened and I’ll deal with it,” he said. “Emotions are running high at the moment but there won’t be a problem. The pair have known each other for a number of years. Everyone’s getting a little bit frustrated and we all probably need to calm down.”

“Things happen in football. Things boil over from time to time. One of the reasons I brought Bob in was because he’s such a passionate guy. They were talking in the dressing room afterwards but I’ll get to the bottom of it and deal with it,” he added.
