After being tied 1-1 at the end of extra time, Brazil and Chile needed a penalty shootout to separate both the sides so as to determine who advances to the World Cup quarterfinals. It was ultimately the host nation, Brazil, who emerged victorious after beating Chile in a 3-2 penalty shootout win.

Barcelona’s Neymar might have scored the goal that decided the outcome of the match, but it was goalkeeper Julio Cesar who saved two penalty kicks.
