Brendan Rodgers - "Liverpool will always aim to thrill"

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is willing to stick with his attacking methods this season after another high-scoring victory.

The Reds beat Swansea City 4-3 at Anfield on Sunday thanks to two goals each from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge. They squandered leads of 2-0 and 3-2 to eventually get past Rodgers’ former club to stay in the hunt for the Premier League title.

The win puts them four points behind leaders Chelsea but, more importantly, opened up a six-point gap ahead of Tottenham, who lie fifth.

Although irresistible in attack, they were poor in defence but it made for another enthralling Liverpool match.

Their fourth goal put them ahead of Manchester City as the league’s top scorers but they have conceded eight more than the Blues and Arsenal, and 14 more than Chelsea, but Rodgers will stick with his style.

“I think that’s not our style,” he said. “I worry always to play good football. I’m not totally satisfied with always grinding out results.

“It’s the point of the season where it’s about winning, that’s what professional sport is about at this level.

“But I will always concentrate on performance because I think the consequence of performing well consistently is good results. This season shows that – when we play well more times than not we get the win.”
