Cameroon want Samuel Eto’o to play in the World Cup next year if the country qualifies

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has been included in the Cameroon World Cup squad despite reports that the 32-year-old had retired from international duty.

The BBC, though, claims that the team’s coach Volker Finke did not corroborate the reports, saying that the decision was left to Eto’o. After news that the striker wanted to call it quits after the playoff stages, there has been pressure from different quarters asking him to reconsider. Cameroonian legend Roger Milla also offered to chip in with talks to assuage the four-time African Player of the Year.

Cameroon play Tunisia away on October 11 in the first of their playoff ties. The home leg will be played on October 15 and the winner will book their place at the World Cup in Brazil.Barcelona’s Jean Marie Dongou and Malaga striker Fabrice Olinga are the other high-profile players who will represent Cameroon in the tie.
