#3 Manchester United (England)

The Red Devils were grouped alongside Juventus, Valencia, and Young Boys. Manchester United began the tournament with a comprehensive 3-0 away win in Switzerland. The next two matches proved to be difficult as they drew against Valencia and lost against Juventus at Old Trafford. Their highlight in the group stages came when they beat Juventus in Turin. They would go on to win the remaining two matches and finish runners-up to Juventus. Their opponent in the Round of 16 were Paris-Saint Germain.

In the first leg of the tie, PSG completely dominated United at Old Trafford and won 2-0. No one gave them a chance to progress through. But in true United fashion, they made the comeback in Paris and won 3-1 on the night to progress on away goals after a 3-3 tie in aggregate.

Manchester United's quarter-final opponents are FC Barcelona.


#4 FC Barcelona (Spain)

The Catalan giants were in a group that comprised of Tottenham Hotspurs, Inter Milan, and PSV Eindhoven. Barcelona had a relatively straightforward run in the group stages, winning four matches and drawing two. They faced Olympique Lyonnais in the Round of 16.

The first leg of the Round of 16 ended in a 0-0 draw at Lyon. In the second leg, Barcelona completely dominated the French team to win by 5-1 on the night and on aggregate.

Barcelona's quarter-final opponents are Manchester United.
