Spanish club Atletico Madrid joins Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Club Brugge in the group A. The most exciting fixture of the group A will be between the Madrid club and its German counterpart Borussia Dortmund.

Atletico beat Champions League holder and city rival Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup which will boost their confidence to the next level. Real Madrid have won three consecutive Champions League title in the past three years. Borussia Dortmund will have to give their heart and soul if they want to beat the Madrid club and progress to the knockout stages of the grandest club competition.

#2 PSG vs Napoli

SSC Napoli v AC Milan - Serie A
S.S.C. Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti

Group C is the toughest group of all. PSG, Napoli and Liverpool are the best clubs in their respective league. All the top clubs of the group will have to give their all if they want to progress to the next round of the competition.

Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel will make their debut in the Champions League for Napoli and PSG respectively. PSG are among the favourites to win the Champions League this season. The French champions will have a certain advantage over Napoli as they have some of the best players in the world.

Even though Napoli doesn't have as strong a squad as PSG, they have a winner in manager Carlo Ancelotti who has won three Champions League trophies with AC Milan(2) and Real Madrid(1).

#3 Napoli vs Liverpool

Liverpool v Brighton & Hove Albion - Premier League
Jurgen Klopp

Runners-up of last year's Champions League Liverpool will face PSG and Napoli in the group stages this season.

Liverpool have increased the strength of the squad with many signings which include Alisson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Shaqiri. The Merseysiders will be difficult to beat this season because of the team the club possesses.

Napoli manager Ancelotti has been very successful in the Champions League winning it three times with two different clubs. Ancelotti is a manager with substantial tactical prowess, and his experience will make PSG and Liverpool sweat to beat the Italian club. The games between all the clubs in Group C will be worth watching.

#4 PSG vs Liverpool

Real Madrid v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: First Leg
PSG will be tough to beat this season

Another exciting game from the group stage will be between Liverpool and PSG. Both PSG and Liverpool are unbeaten in Ligue 1 and Premier League respectively so far this season.

Liverpool will be high on confidence this season due to their success in the summer transfer window. Liverpool were finalists of the Champions League last season which will further boost their confidence.

The Parisien club have one of the strongest squad among all the Champions League clubs this season. Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe will add the confidence in the PSG attack which will allow the team to score a lot of goals. The French champions will have a slight advantage over both Liverpool and Napoli as they play in an easier league as compared to to the other two.

#5 Real Madrid vs AS Roma

Real Madrid CF v Getafe CF - La Liga
Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui

Champions League title holders Real Madrid will be without Cristiano Ronaldo for the first time in 9 years in this elite competition.

Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo still has the squad which can beat any team on any given day. The Galacticos have an easier group this season with AS Roma the only real competition. Real Madrid players grabbed all the individual trophies of the UEFA Champions League for last season. This clearly indicates how strong the Spanish squad is even without their former talisman.

AS Roma performed very well last season in the Champio0ns League and even knocked out Barcelona from the competition. AS Roma doesn't have the squad as strong as Real Madrid Football is game of surprises and anything can happen between the two teams. It is quite a possibility that Roma can beat the current champions.

#6 Juventus and Manchester United

Juventus v SS Lazio - Serie A
Ronaldo in the Juventus shirt

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford to face his former club Manchester United. United fans have always held Ronaldo in high regard. Juventus will visit England high on confidence. The Turin club have always performed well in the Champions League and will hope that they take a step further and go on to win the grandest club competition this year.

United, on the other hand, has performed poorly in the League so far winning only one out of the three games played. Even Paul Pogba will travel to his former home for the return leg fixture against Juventus. Jose Mourinho needs to figure out some ways to improve their performances before United face Juventus and their former player Cristiano Ronaldo.
