UEFA have announced details of their intention to back ‘continent’s biggest anti-discrimination campaign, the FARE Action Weeks’ and Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will be some of the big names backing this initiative.

“UEFA, its member associations and its long-standing partner FARE [Football Against Racism in Europe] share an unflinching desire to tackle all forms of discrimination in our sport and to help stamp out such behaviour across Europe,” President Michel Platini is quoted as saying through UEFA’s official website.

“Driven by that shared determination, we adopted a resolution on this issue in May this year, with a view to sending out a strong message as part of our fight against racism.”

As a part of this initiative, team captains will wear ‘No to Racism’ armbands during games played during October 22-24 in the Champions League and Europa League.

Anti-racism messages will be played across clubs and player testimonials in support of the campaign will be shown at each ground.
