Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid scooped three prizes last night at the LFP award ceremony including the best player in La Liga, best forward and also the best goal of the season.
Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Giovani Dos Santos were the selected final three candidates for the accolade, but the Portuguese’s back heel flick eclipsed the Barcelona forward’s free kick against Almeria. Dos Santos was nominated for his beautiful twenty five yards curler against Valencia which sealed a convincing 4-1 victory on the day.
Messi’s 30-yard free kick also came in a 4-1 victory against Almeria. The Argentine buried the set-piece into the top left corner, beating the Almeria wall.
Finally, Ronaldo’s back-heel strike came against Valencia in week 36 of La Liga which was a vital equaliser that saved Real’s blushes from dropping three points.
