Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed another stunning season at Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players ever in the history of the game, and the Portuguese superstar is set to create another record when Real Madrid take on Deportivo in the final La Liga game of the season. Cristiano Ronaldo could become the first player in history to score 50 goals or more in six consecutive seasons this weekend, which shows his incredible consistency and impact at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will be hoping Granada do them a favour against Barcelona, but they must first ensure that they themselves do not slip up against Depor. The Real Madrid forward has netted 49 times so far this season in all competitions, including 33 in La Liga and 16 in the Champions League, leaving him just one shy of the half-century mark.

Ronaldo, of course, will have two opportunities to score his 50th goal of the season. If the Portuguese superstar misses out on a goal tomorrow, he will have one last chance in the Champions League finals against Atletico Madrid. However, Ronaldo fans will be very optimistic of their man finding the back of the net against Depor as he has run them ragged on previous occasions.

In eight games against El Depor, Ronaldo has netted 9 times including a hat-trick in last season’s corresponding fixture where Real Madrid won 8-2. Even though Ronaldo is comfortably ahead of his long time rival Lionel Messi in the goal scoring charts, he is set to lose out on the Pichichi award to Barcelona’s Luis Suarez.

The magnitude of Ronaldo’s achievement can be seen by the fact that the only other player who even comes close to his stunning record is Messi, who has scored 50 or more goals in 3 of the last 6 seasons.

Ronaldo to equal Eusebio’s Champions League finals appearance record

Real Madrid's qualification for the Champions League final in Milan will also put Ronaldo equal with the late Portuguese soccer legend Eusebio, who played in four finals of the tournament.

However, the Black Panther, as Eusebio is lovingly called, only managed to gain the European title – then called the European Cup – once, in the 1961-1962 season. He lost the other three finals with his club Benfica.

In contrast, Ronaldo holds two Champions League titles (one with Manchester United and one with Real Madrid) and lost the final that pitted the English club against Barcelona in the 2008-2009 season.

Ronaldo, 31, will have another opportunity on May 28 against Atletico Madrid to equal the record of Eusebio, who died in 2014 and with whom Ronaldo competes to be considered the best Portuguese footballer in history.
