Cristiano Ronaldo has shown how gracious he can be as a sportsman as he surprisingly sent a congratulatory message in WhatsApp to Barcelona star Neymar. Ronaldo is often portrayed as being selfish and egoistic, however, this kind gesture proves that media portrayal of the Portuguese superstar does not often reflect the truth.
According to the website ‘Madrid-Barcelona’, sources close to the Brazilian confirmed the message sent by Ronaldo was written in a very “polite and affectionate” tone. Barcelona star Neymar was pleasantly surprised by the message and thanked Ronaldo for his kind gesture.
Other members of the Real Madrid squad like their manager Zinedine Zidane and defender Sergio Ramos have publicly congratulated Luis Enrique’s men for their La Liga triumph. Madrid won their final home game against Deportivo thanks to a brace from Ronaldo but it counted for little as Suarez's hat-trick against Granada ensured Barcelona won La Liga.
This incident proves that Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo enjoy a good relationship with Ronaldo also having previously praised the Brazilain superstar.
Neymar says it will be good if Ronaldo plays for Barcelona
Neymar had earlier praised Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo saying that he was a fan of the Portuguese star.
"I'm a fan of Cristiano; he's a legend, one of a kind. It would be very good if he played for Barcelona," Neymar was quoted as saying by goal.com.
Neymar has by his side the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez but he says the credit for the club's success should not always be heaped on the trio.
"I think the team is not only this trident, we can be considered one of the best in history," he said.
"I love playing with my teammates and I feel very proud to be part of this team."
Neymar and Barcelona will be hoping to secure the double when they face Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey final.
Neymar technically better than Ronaldo and Messi – Cafu
Legendary Brazilian footballer Cafu believes that his compatriot Neymar has already surpassed Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to technical ability.
Neymar had to settle for third place at the 2015 Fifa Ballon d'Or awards behind Messi and Ronaldo, but Cafu nonetheless said his fellow countryman is already at a higher level than the illustrious duo in one area of his game.
"Looking at his technical skills, I would say Neymar is stronger than Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo right now," the former defender was quoted as saying by goal.com.
Neymar has largely been tipped to become one of the world’s greatest players and one can only hope that he does not feel the weight of all these expectations.
