Cristiano Ronaldo surely loves his friends, not to mention his agent Jorge Mendes who got recently got married. The Real Madrid star was the best man at Mendes’ wedding and the gift that he bought for his close friend was a Greek island.
According to a report by Portuguese media source Move Noticias, Ronaldo is believed to have shelled out somewhere between €3m to €50m for the island. Although the name or the location of the island is not known.
Greece who are in the middle of a serious financial crisis have decided to sell some of their islands in order to try and clear up the financial problems that they are encountering at the moment.
It is truly an extraordinary present from the 30-year-old to his agent which shows the close friendship that they share. The Portuguese captain might have got the island on a bargain deal as the island might have been sold on a cheaper price owing to their financial crisis.
Ronaldo was reported to be on leave from his club to be the best man at Mendes’ wedding. The report also says that around 400 guests were expected to be attending the wedding including Ronaldo’s Real Madrid teammates Fabio Coentrao and Pepe.
It will be unlikely that any other guest would have brought such a lavish gift for the couple for their wedding and it was truly a special gift. Medes has been Ronaldo’s agent since his Sporting Lisbon days had overseen his transfer first to Manchester United and then to Real Madrid. At Madrid, Ronaldo turned into one of the best footballers in the world and his relationship with Mendes has been a solid one.
