Cristiano Ronaldo has a very short temper and sometimes he has struggled to contain that on the pitch. When he is not scoring the man can be hard to handle and his emotions do tend to get the better of him.

On Wednesday night, it seemed like once again the Portuguese was going to do something rash after having a very disappointing 90 minutes on the pitch. It looked like he had gotten back to scoring form after his hat-trick over the weekend but against Legia, he returned to the unlucky and frustrated Ronaldo we had seen this season up to now.

Real Madrid became complacent after taking a 2-0 lead but lost their lead and ended up trailing 3-2 in the second half because of some poor defending. But Mateo Kovacic saved ZIdane’s blushes with an accurate strike in the 85th minute.

Real Madrid went in search of the winner and in the 90th minute during a corner a Legia player who was close to Ronaldo went down in the box seething in pain. The 31-year-old just started to walk away from the incident and the referee below the final whistle.

Video replays showed Ronaldo trodded on the player after he was down and may he even left a foot on him when he had just hit the floor. It remains to be seen if it is intentional but it looks like it very well could be.

Here is the clip of the incident from last night:

From the above images it’s entirely possible it was on purpose, but if so the least he should have received was a red card for the offence. Whether UEFA will look into this incident remains to be seen but he still hasn’t been punished for another incident that took place a month ago.

Ronaldo was accused of kicking Borussia Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer in September when the two clubs met in this tournament. He once again escaped without a card and was not investigated for it either.

Ronaldo needs to learn to keep his frustration in check. His stamp might or might not have been intentional but the spotlight will always be on him in any game and it could cost him in the long run.

Real Madrid will hope Ronaldo is not punished for this incident and more importantly gets his form back for their next game.
