Cristiano Ronaldo is a goal away from another record

Cristiano Ronaldo‘s incredible goal rate means the Portuguese goes into this weekend’s game with the possibility of becoming the seventh all-time record goal scorer in La Liga at Real Madrid. If he scores one tonight, he will move level with two club legends, Pirri (José Martínez Sánchez) and Emilio Butragueño, who notched up 123 goals each. Pirri had found the goal 123 times in 417 league games, even though he was a midfielder with defensive duties.

Pirri spoke about Ronaldo‘s achievement earlier today: “He’s a natural goal-scorer and an all-round striker. He can score with his head or with both feet. He gets up and down the pitch quickly and has good strength. He’s got everything and has shown what a great player he is”, Pirri said.

Emilio Butragueño shares the seventh spot with Pirri in the goal-scorers’ chart. ‘The Vulture’ scored 123 times from 341 matches. “Ronaldo always gives 100%. I used to be a striker and I admire him. His goal record is unbelievable”, he said.

The Portuguese’s following scalp would be Ferenc Puskas, who lies sixth on the list with 126 goals in 428 games. Raúl González occupies the top spot with 228 goals, followed by Alfredo De Stéfano (216), Santillana (186) and Hugo Sánchez (164).
