Cristiano Ronaldo refuses to swap shirt with Israel players

Israeli Head Coach Eli Guttman (R) speaks with Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo during the FIFA 2014 World Cup European qualifiers.

Portugal faced Israel in the World Cup qualifiers match which turned out to be a thriller. The match ended 3-3 with Israel throwing away their 3-1 lead with just 20 minutes of game left.

Helder Postiga scored Portugal’s second that came  from a Cristiano Ronaldo assist. Fabio Coentrao scored the late equaliser and helped Portugal secure a point.

Before the game, Ronaldo posted a photo of himself along with his team-mates at Tel Aviv beach that made his fans from Palestine furious.

After the match, Ronaldo refused to exchange shirts with Israeli players that increased further speculation about whose cause he supported, Palestine or Israel.

Previously in November 2012, it was claimed that Ronaldo donated €1.5 million to Palestinian children in Gaza. This followed another supposed donation he made in 2011 to raising funds for schools in Gaza.
