After half an hour of fierce competition, the Parisians went ahead through an Adrien Rabbiot goal. However, they could not take the lead into the second half as Cristiano Ronaldo leveled the tie in the 44th minute. Lo Celso brought down Toni Kroos in the box, resulting in a penalty kick which the Portuguese finished accurately.
Los Blancos continued to put the game under control to limit a rampant PSG side that looked dangerous throughout the 90 minutes. Zidane later introduced Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, and Lucas Vazquez to change the dimension of the game.
Soon after his introduction, Asensio sent a cross into the box which Areola parried. Unfortunately for the goalkeeper, the ball landed in front of the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner who made no mistake with his conversion from close-range. Three minutes later, Marcelo scored again for the hosts to conclude a vital 3-1 victory for the Galacticos.
