Manchester United boss has stated that he needs to access the seriousness of Wayne Rooney’s injury before pressing the player into action, Sky Sports reports.
The 27-year-old was accidentally injured by team mate Phil Jones while participating in a training session and had to miss the crucial clash against rivals Liverpool which ended in a 1-0 defeat for Manchester United.
The England international could not participate in his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine but is in contention to take part in the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
“He is in great physical shape,” said Moyes. “Obviously he has a cut right in the middle of his forehead which could split because the skin is very thin.
“But he has had his stitches out and it has knitted. We just have to see where the level of risk is with his injury.”
Maroune Fellaini is expected to make his Manchester United debut against Palace while defenders Rafael and Phil Jones are out with injury.
Manchester United hope to get their second victory of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
