David Villa has dedicated his Champions League final goal to the family of his fellow countryman Pepe Reina.
The striker, who scored Barcelona‘s third goal of the match dedicated the goal to Reina’s daughters.
“I couldn’t be happier. It’s a fantastic result for us in what is such an important stadium in our club’s history.
“I dedicate it to all my family, my daughters and also Pepe Reina’s, who are like my nieces.”
It was Villa’s goal that took the match away from United as the Spanish striker’s looped shot from outside the penalty box went over Van der Sar and into the goal.
Before Villa, Javier Mascherano had also mentioned Liverpool in the post match interview.
The Argentine midfielder who left the Merseyside club in the middle of the season said,
“I know some Liverpool supporters were disappointed after my exit, they were a little bit sad with me, but this is for them.”
