Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba won the 2013 Golden Foot award at a ceremony in Monte Carlo yesterday.

The Golden Foot award is an annual award given to football players above the age of 28.

The Ivory Coast international became the first African player to win the award and beat other nominees such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta, Frank Lampard, David Trezeguet, Andrea Pirlo, Samuel Eto’o, Iker Casillas, David Beckham and Miroslav Klose.

Last year, Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked up the prestigious award. Previous winners include illustrious names such as Roberto Baggio, Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti.
