Former Manchester United striker, Diego Forlan, said he advised fellow countryman and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to join Manchester United.

Suarez, who has scored 29 goals for Liverpool this season to move them closer to that elusive Premier League title, has been in the form of his life and looks all set to feature in the Champions League for Liverpool for the first time next season. Manchester United, on the other hand, has had a pathetic campaign and finds themselves languishing sixth in the league table.

But Diego Forlan still believes that it is best for Luis Suarez’s career to jump ship.

“We spoke a few days ago,” the 34-year-old told Brazilian sports paper Lance. “He asked me if I think he should stay at Liverpool.”

“All I told him was to think about going to Manchester United. I know he loves Liverpool, the fans and the city, but I think the best thing for his career would be to move to Old Trafford.”

The last time a transfer happened between the two bitter rivals of England was when Phil Chisnall moved from United to Liverpool half-a-century ago in 1964.

And with Luis Suarez having already signed a new long term contract at Liverpool this season, the possibility of Forlan’s advise actually materializing looks bleak.
