Don't believe the hype: Arsenal still gunning for Suarez

The Telegraph: Luis Suarez unmoved by Arsenal’s provocative bid for Liverpool striker as Uruguayan’s exit clause not triggered

Quote: “There are no Liverpool plans at this stage to pursue a complaint against the Londoners, although at the highest level of the Merseyside club there is a feeling bidding an additional pound was “rubbing Liverpool’s noses in it”.

“It has ensured no further approaches by Arsenal are welcome at Anfield.”

With Madrid busy wasting money on a player they already have, Suarez will weigh up his options and kill time, to both Arsenal and Liverpool’s detriment. It seems obvious that 90% of players would choose Real Madrid over us, I can’t fault Suarez for that, but he’s playing a game of high risk game of poker here.

If Madrid are still choking on his price tag, then maybe Suarez will have to accept staying at Liverpool, or biting the bullet by moving to Arsenal. Only time will tell. I don’t believe this transfer will happen quickly. If anything, it’s going right to deadline day.

What I do believe is there are some Jedi mind tricks at work here; Liverpool aren’t being completely honest. It reeks of an RVP-esque scenario where Suarez will have to kick and scream very publicly to get his way.

Of course, submitting a transfer request would help move things along, but who would want to give up their loyalty bonus when they could just wait things out? I understand clubs have ties to journalists, and how certain newspapers are the mouthpieces for certain clubs, but Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph is laying it on a bit thick in his latest post. His hinting at inside information which contrasts with what is widely believed wreaks of PR spin straight from the horse’s mouth. Liverpool can use the media all they like to toy with us, but I remain convinced Arsenal are very much in the hunt.

Don’t trust everything you read in the media.

Did I mention Mr. Bascombe also ghost wrote Jamie Carragher’s autobiography, Carra? He might have a friend or two over at Anfield. Nope, not suspicious at all… Moving on, then.
