Berlin, Sep 25 (IANS) All Bundesliga teams advanced into the third round of the DFB Pokal except Mainz that lost 0-1 to Cologne, to open the second round in the German Cup.

Second division side 1860 Munich staged a courageous performance which made Dortmund wait until the 105th minute to break the deadlock Tuesday, reports Xinhua.

The visitors dominated the match but failed to overcome the host’s bulwark despite many scoring opportunities. However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made use of a foul play penalty to bring his side to winning ways.

The ‘BVB’ were not done with the scoring as new arrival Henrik Mkhitaryan doubled the lead three minutes later, to make the game safe and secure a berth in last 16.

Leverkusen trail Dortmund into the next round as the ‘Werkself’ reaped a 2-0 triumph against courageous second division side Arminia Bielefeld. Leverkusen’s Heung Min Son paved the way for the win with his opener in the 62nd minute before Sidney Sam killed the game with one minute remaining.

Wolfsburg progressed with a hard-earned 2-0 win over second division side Aalen. The visitors stretched Wolfsburg to the limit as the ‘Wolves’ had to wait until the 45th minute to open the scoring.

Diego utilised a cross by Ricardo Rodriguez to volley home from 20 metres. The Wolves sealed the deal in the 82nd minute when Diego’s cross found the head of unmarked Timm Klose inside the penalty area for a 2-0 lead.

Pierre Michel Lasogga’s winner secured Hamburg a place in the next round as they knocked out second division team Greuther Fuerth. Lasogga exploited a spilled free kick to tap in for the win in the 64th minute.

Hoffenheim struggled for goals over 90 minutes against second division side Cottbus. However, things changed with the start of the overtime as Hoffenheim scored through Niklas Suele, Roberto Firminio and Sven Schipplock to grab a 3-0 victory.

Mainz is the only Bundesliga side who were beaten in the second round as Cologne’s Marcel Risse scored the only goal in the 53rd minute.

Elsewhere, Augsburg eased to a 3-0 victory over third division side Preuen Munster and second division side Sandhausen came from behind to beat fourth division side Wiedenbrueck 3-1.
