Doubts about Boateng's participation against Slovakia

Saint Martin de Re (France), June 24 (IANS) Germany continued on Friday to prepare for Slovakia in the pre-quarterfinal of the Euro football championship amid doubts about the availability of central defender Jerome Boateng due to leg injury.

Although goalkeeper Manuel Neuer expected his team-mate to catch up with the game, Boateng had special training under medical supervision for the second day in a row, reports Efe.

Boateng was replaced in 75 minutes last Tuesday during the group game against Northern Ireland, after the 27-year-old Bayern Munich player suffered from muscle pains in his leg.

If Boateng does not regain fitness in time, Benedikt Howedes or Shkodran Mustafi will likely partner Mats Hummels in central defence.

The reigning world champions are bidding for their fourth European title -- and first since 1996.
