#2 Mohun Bagan left it too late for a fairy-tale comeback

With two goals down early in the second half, Mohun Bagan should have gone for the kill, which reaped results initially, but couldn’t save them from a defeat in the final match. Salva Chamorro scored from a header in the 64th minute from Joseba Beitia’s cross but failed to make an opening for the second goal.

Bringing in Fran Gonzalez in the second period changed the complexion of the match, Bagan played with a lot more thrust. The supply line was much more active, although they found it hard to pierce the target. The green and maroon brigade had control of the game entirely in the last quarter, although time ran out for them. They have risked too much for a fairy tale comeback.

#1 Marcus Joseph - The Hero of the Durand Cup

Gokulam Kerala FC was banking on Trinidadian striker Marcus Joseph to make a difference for them in the title clash. He did not disappoint. Marcus scored the opening goal of the match from the penalty in the 45th minute. He has been the most influential player in the Kerala based squad in the Durand Cup, he once again proved his worth.

Marcus's second goal was a gem. After receiving a through ball from Nachoa Singh, the foreigner had acres of space in front of the goal. Making strides forward, he made a clinical finish slipping the ball past Debjit Majumder. Marcus finished with 11 goals in the Durand Cup!
