Still 9 games are left in the season and fans are expecting something extra-ordinary from coach Trevor James Morgan and his boys. Though the Red and Gold Brigade manager is quite doubtful about winning his maiden I-League, but seems like it is not impossible for him to achieve it. Yesterday’s match against Mumbai FC showed that the East Bengal players were also very determined to win this year’s I-League and to gift the title to their boss.

Yesterday’s match has shown that East Bengal is missing a goal-scoring striker. Though Edeh Chidi is scoring goals, but he is not consistent at all. Before yesterday’s match, people raised questions regarding East Bengal’s supreme mid-field. But yesterday, Mehtab, Cavin Lobo, Lalrindika Ralte proved one more time why their mid-field is called one of the best in Indian club football.

Meanwhile, East Bengal is close to signing their fourth foreigner Andrew Barisic, who has already arrived in Kolkata. It is expected that East Bengal will sign him up during the transfer window, which is going to open on January 15. East Bengal fans have great expectations from this Aussie striker. Barisic is also aware of that fact as he told in an interview before leaving Australia, “Can’t wait anymore, looking forward to prove myself in India. I have heard that Tolgay scored a lot of goals for East Bengal and fulfilled fans expectation. I also want to do that”. Though the inclusion of this player will make it difficult for East Bengal’s British coach to chose the right combination, but it will be interesting to watch whether or not Barisic will be able to fulfill the fans expectations.

Meanwhile, East Bengal will face Churchill Brothers in their next game in the I-League on January 19. It is expected that the game against Churchill will be Barisic’s first hurdle. It is going to be huge match as both the teams are now in the top two. East Bengal coach has already cleared it, “To win the league, we have to win seven out of nine games.”
