The consecutive El Clasico home defeats showed that Real Madrid is still living in the past. They still consider themselves the best team in the world. They are neither learning from their mistakes nor are willing to adapt. In the previous seasons, they would often play mediocrely and still come out as eventual winners. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez, Jese, were there to support them. But, today they don't have such a luxury.

Neither do they have a plan 'B'. They still believe that they could hang till the end and somehow win the game. But, unfortunately, this strategy is not working as they have lost their edge. Their ability to win ugly, a hallmark of champions too seems long gone. The players still haven't come to terms with Ronaldo's departure and blame the club for their failure in bringing a top forward this season. It's their attitude and mental aspect of the game which is hurting them the most.

If Real Madrid wants to be the best, they must come out from the shackles of the past and start living in the present.
