England defender extends his stay at Spurs

Looks like the 2013-14 premiere league is getting better the English players at least. After Andros Townsend was rewarded with a national team breath for his performance in the season so far, it seems at the London based club is leaving no stone unturned in making sure that the key members of its squad remain with the club for a longer duration.

This is after Tottenham Hotspurs revealed that the club’s right back, Kyle Walker, signed a new contract, committing his future to the club until 2019.

The England international who made his way onto the London club from Sheffield United in July, 2009 took some time to cement his place in the first team. He was initially loaned back at Bramall Lane, apart form his loan spells at Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa. But after rejoining at the White Heart Lane, he went on to make the right-back berth his own.

The Englishman has the honour of making more appearances for Spurs than any other player last season and was also voted as the Young Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers’ Association in 2012.

Walker has made a total of 112 appearances for Spurs and has also made it to the score sheet twice, which includes the winner in the north London derby at the White Heart Lane against Arsenal in October, 2011. Eventually the goal was also voted as the Goal of the Season by the Spurs supporters.
